I Love Dress Fittings

My dear friends Mr and Ms Verve are getting married. And I am so unbeliebably excited about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love their story. You see, I inadvertently introduced them both at my Engagement Bonfire three years ago. They got engaged on August 20, 2011 which you can read more about here. I can't wait for them to start their Happily Ever After together!

Several months ago, Ms Verve asked me to be one of her bridesmaids and I was ecstatic to accept. I'm so proud to get to play an intimate part in such a special occassion for two of my fav people on the planet. As one of her maids it is my duty to help make sure that this wedding goes off without a hitch and the best way to start with that is, The Dress!

So today Ms Verve, Ms Zest (another one of the bridesmaids and my new partner in crime), Mrs Charm ( Ms Verve's darling of a mother) and I all headed to Bloomingdale's for Ms Verve's first dress fitting. It was the first time I was getting to see her dress and she looked lovely. It's a beautiful, elegant, totally made for her dress. I can't wait to see her on her wedding day when all the carefully, lovingly chosen pieces will come together. She is going to be exquisite.

After the fitting we were all famished so we headed over to True Food Kitchen. I have been frequenting this place more and more often. You can't really go wrong with their menu. I ordered a set of the Edamame Dumplings for the table to share. The Roasted Corn pizza for my main meal and The Natural to wash it all down smooth.

The pizza was delicious and I don't think I will ever tire of the dumplings although I have learned the hard way that you should not keep them for a long time in a small enclosed space. (They may be delicious but they give off quite an overwhelming aroma!)

Jessism of the Week: My Obsession

I am absolutely over-the-moon obsessed with Olallieberries. What are olallieberries you say? Only the single best invention I have ever had the pleasure to put in my mouth. These little beauties were developed at Oregon State in the 1930s by a berry genius named George Waldo and released into the wild in 1950.

"The olallieberry (pronounced oh-la-leh, sometimes spelled ollalieberry, olallaberry, olalliberry, ollalaberry or ollaliberry) is a cross between the loganberryand the youngberry, each of which is itself a cross between blackberry and another berry (raspberry and dewberry, respectively)." - wikipedia, epicurious food dictionary

My first enchanting encounter with these delightful morsels was on a trip to Hearst Castle when my husband and I stopped in Cambria, CA for a bite to eat. Our lunch place of choice was Linn's Restaurant, where we were introduced to the mouthwatering Olallieberry Pie. The taste is so deliciously tart and sweet that it is mind boggling. It was love at first bite. Mr Mine and I immediately both fell in love with the Olallieberry to the point where we even had Olallieberry for our wedding pie last year instead of the traditional cake. We had two frozen pies shipped from Linn's Restaurant and our caterer baked them to perfection! Hmm, maybe I should order one every year for our anniversary. I sense a new tradition in the making...

Recently I was in Solvang, with Mrs Bokeh, and Ms Ianthine and came across a stand selling Olallieberry Jam. If I thought I loved the pie, I am enraptured by the jam. And the obsession continues! YUM!

Happy Occasions

YAY! Brilliant news today, my dear friends Mr and Ms Verve got engaged last night!!

WOoohoooo! I am so delighted for them! You see, I inadvertently introduced them both at my Engagement Bonfire three years ago on August 8, 2009. 

The funny thing is they could have met several months before. Ms Verve and I were on our company soccer team together. Since it was my one of my last games of the season and my dear friend Mr Verve had never seen me play he decided to come and watch. The below image is of them standing within three feet of each other on the endline. They didn't speak, didn't even realize the other existed in this moment. This was March 6th, a whole five months before they would officially meet.

Mr Verve and I met in college over a decade ago and through the wonders of myspace were able to reconnect when I moved out to LaLa Land. He and I were both Industrial Design majors at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. We met in a Environmental Design class that was being taught by his best friend's dad. I think our friendship was sealed when I ended up accidentally taking us off-roading on the way to one of our class assignments! Ms Verve and I worked together at two different companies. Although I think we truly bonded on the company soccer team. I adore her and couldn't be happier for them both! Congratualations guys!!!

Fabric Frenzy

Deciding your color palette has to be THE most complicated decision when it comes to your wedding. ( I mean after picking out THE dress of course). So today my darling Matron of Honor and I rallied and went to Joann Fabrics to find examples to match the two different color schemes that Stewshi and I have been toying with. The result definitely has me leaning more towards what I consider the "Strawberry Shortcake" look.



It just seems to mesh better with spring and my love of lace that is matching my wonderful dress :)

Whirlwind

You wait all this time to get engaged. You fret about it, worry about it, stress over it. And then when it happens it's a complete whirlwind blur. And everyday after you find yourself looking at this ring on your finger and wondering over the fact that you are now engaged. That it did indeed happen. At least, that is what happens to me. I'm kind of in awe. It feels like this momentous event came and went and all that's leftover is this ring on my finger. I suppose that is what our wedding day will be like as well. Lots of planning and craziness, all over in the blink of an eye. I guess at least when you are pregnant, and you finally go through the birth part, in the end you have something you can visibly watch grow and change.
